I attended the vigil for Orli last night on WashU’s campus. The turnout, the eulogies read, the celebration of life — it was very clear that Orli was so deeply loved. Her presence on our campus will be missed. My deepest condolences. Wishing you peace and healing.

To Orli’s Family — I wanted to share with you what an incredible impact Orli had at WUSTL. Her brilliance — in terms of her insights in class but also her overwhelming empathy and compassion for others — had a profound impact on her classmates and faculty. In her first year here, she organized a project to write chalk messages of gratitude on the sidewalk to thank the dining staff for coming back to campus to support the WUSTL students during covid. What started with just a few students quickly grew to several dozen — with our sidewalks covered with messages of gratitude for a staff that is so frequently overlooked by others. Orli was able to see people and insights in a very special way; she carried with her so much hope. We are so grateful to have had the opportunity to be part of her life. May her memory be a blessing.
